For today’s picture I have selected a Harvester, simply because it is harvest time of year. Halloween in fact started as a harvest party of sorts, and maintains many associations with harvest, even today, such as: hay, pumpkins, apples, corn stalks, etc. Believe it or not, Rhode Island actually has a lot of farm land left in many South County areas such as: Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Richmond, and South Kingstown, and in some of the Northern areas such as Foster, Glocester, North Scituate, etc. Rhode Island even holds the world record for the world’s largest pumpkin at 1,689 pounds set by Joe Jutras in 2007. Although, a Massachusetts man Steve Connolly came close to the record this year with a 1,568 pumpkin (he might have won if the pumpkin did not develop a hole in the bottom, which was discovered when it was lifted to be weighted), so Rhode Island will hold the record for at least another year and probably longer.

The harvester pictured above is harvesting just off of Waites Corner Road in West Kingston, RI. It has had a gradient applied to the sky, which was a little over exposed, and has had some work done on the colors to get it looking just right.
