It does not have to be a lot; even a dollar can make a difference.

Today’s picture of the day is that of an Eastern Cottontail, I believe, but there is a small possibility that it could be a New England Cottontail, but that is doubtfully. According to the national federation the New England cottontails need large areas of brush whereas the Eastern cottontails are able to survive and even thrive in small patchy areas of brush. Hence considering the area where I found this one did not seem to contain a great amount of brush and the New England cottontail for this reason is almost endangered; I believe this one to be an Eastern cottontail.
“New England cottontails are certainly a species that has suffered, whereas eastern cottontails are quite capable of hanging on in the most degraded habitats,” says John Litvaitis, a wildlife ecologist at the University of New Hampshire who has studied the two species for years.
