This is a picture of Santa and his reindeer at the Warwick mall. I took this picture then a security guard told me that I cannot take pictures in the mall. When I asked him why he said it is private property. Go figure. After I got home I looked up the rules, and a mall may be private property, but it is open to the public so I am allowed to take pictures, until I am asked to leave. I therefore since I can be there, and there are no posted rules at the entrance (or anywhere else for that matter) prohibiting photography the security guard was wrong to tell me I cannot take pictures in a place open to the public. I think it is the mall’s desire for control because they have no way of stopping the hundreds of people who probably bring camera phones in so I do not understand why they asked me to stop. May one someone reading this works at a place like this and could really explain what these places are so worried about? Please if you do leave a comment.
