6 Comments on President Bush visits Rhode Island

So what do you think about the fact that South Kingstown High School had some guy come in and talk to kids about impeaching The President and asked for signatures to a petition?

I think they are crazy and flat out wrong to not remain neutral on the issue and should have presented it to the students from the perspective of an objective observer instead of from the perspective of a subjective observer, as they have clearly done. They are just trying to send some kind of message that they are angry, because President Bush is more concern with principle than with public opinion. Impeaching Bush at this point will not accomplish anything, and will in fact just distract this nation from the real issues that need to be addressed. It simply pointless to try and impeach him now as he only has about a year left in office, by the time they even bring articles of impeachment he will probably be out of office. Furthermore, the lack of cooperation by this Democratic congress has effectively left him unable to accomplish much now anyway. Lastly, it has not been shown beyond a reasonable doubt that he has committed treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors, which would be required for impeachment under the US Constitution.

The liberal news media has spun this notion that he was involved in all these cover ups, but they have yet to show any real evidence that he was engaged in anything illegal. The wire tapping was authorized on probable cause, and warrants were pursued afterwards, in order to prevent another attack like September 11, 2001. Also it was directed against foreign terrorists who are not privileged to protections under the 4th amendment of the US Constitution. Only domestic terrorists are protected under the 4th amendment. In terms of the war on Iraq the impeachment movement cites things such as war crime, but shows no evidence of the supposed crimes that President Bush committed. There also seems to be a lot of talk about impeachment for violating the UN charter, however Iraq was clearly an authorized war of self-defense or at the very least for the defense of our ally Israel. Additionally, the invasion of Iraq still remained authorized by the UN from the first gulf war, and the new sanctions threatened serious consequence if they did not fully comply with inspections. Also congress authorized the attack on Iraq, so we would have to also consider impeaching half of congress depending upon what they knew when. Also the UN does not rule the world, yet, so though we must abide by the treaties made under the authority of the US as the supreme law of the land, they do not supersede the US Constitution. So I am pretty sure that if a treaty is no longer working we can break it under the authority of the US, although I don’t think anyone is yet arguing that we have done that. Rather that would be what happened if by some stretch the invasion of Iraq was illegal under the UN charter, and then congress would obviously have to assume some culpability. Also, weapons of mass destruction although a major issue were not the only reason for invading Iraq strike, there was the September 11th attacks, links to Al Qaeda, Saddam’s crimes against humanity, and the attempt by Saddam to kill Bush’s father. Furthermore, if Israel had not acted preemptively in 1981 to take out Iraq’s nuclear reactor (which probably set them back 20 years) they very well could have had nuclear weapons. The case for impeachment is simply unwarranted, at this point without putting this nation in serious jeopardy. If after he is out of office when these issues can be reviewed, without revealing information that may help the terrorists, then it could conceivably be determined that he committed crimes, and he could be sentenced if he were guilty. However at this point it is ridiculous and just a way to get back at him, because the majority of the information they have cited on the impeach Bush website is unwarranted, and much of it was in the best interest of this country.

However, in the event that I disappear or find I have had my phone tapped for putting this information about him on my website, then I think he should be impeached right away, but until then impeachment is completely unwarranted. As of the moment the only thing I can really say against him is that he should authorized the secret service to allow us access to talk to with and photograph him. Even though, his security did seem a little excessive, I did not personally experience anything too overly restrictive.

The above comment is a good example of a spammer. It really gets me that spammer have such nerve as to pose as a casual blogger, just looking for help with spam. If they didn’t engage in this garbage it wouldn’t be a problem. Fortunately, plugins such as Akismet usally stop these sort of comments before they can get through. I have allowed this one through, albeit with the spam link removed, simply as an example of the fact that these people will try anything, even pretending to be people concerned with anti-spam.
