It is once again time for the South County Hot Air Balloon Festival. The weather looks good so far, although there is a risk of a thunder storm later. The balloon festival which is in its 31st year is sponsored by the Wakefield Rotary Club. It typically offers many options well beyond just the Hot Air Balloons including: pony rides, rock climbing, pig racing, kites, music by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and some carnival rides.

The balloon festival is located just past the URI Ryan Center on the athletic fields, which are right off of route 138. The gates open at 4pm today, although the biggest day is usally Saturday today will also provide opportunities to see the balloons at dust, which is probably one of the biggest highlight of the event. Saturday and Sunday they will open at 5:30 AM and go till 7:00 PM with the balloon glow and fireworks afterwards on Saturday, see the full schedule:here
