Nikon D300

The Nikon D300 is one of the latest and greatest camera’s produced by Nikon. Albeit, the camera does not offer the full frame sensor of the new D3, but it is certainly a step up from its predecessor the D200. What the does D300 offer is a resolution of 12.3 megapixels, speedy 6 fps frame advance, self-cleaning sensor unit and high definition 3″ VGA LCD display, combined with Nikon’s legendary durability. This camera approaches the quality of the previous industry the Nikon D2x for only half the price.

Nikon EXPEED

The Camera also includes Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System that is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera’s features; such as the 51-point auto focus system with Nikon’s 3D Focus Tracking feature, and two LiveView shooting modes that allow users to frame a photograph using the camera’s high-resolution LCD monitor. The ability to frame a photograph with the LCD screen is something that has been barely seen in digital SLRs until now. If you are upgrading from a non digital SLR the live view mode is something that you will not be able to fully appreciate, but if you are upgrading from an SLR it is certainly nice to have the LCD framing option previously offered only on the Olympus E-330.

The D300 first shipped in September of 2007 and became available in November it is priced at $1,799.95 + shipping from B & H photo. B & H usually has the pretty low prices if the not the lowest prices. However, being that it is such a hot item don’t expect a huge bargain on it. B & H has them in stock as of this posting, but they are predicting to sell out of these cameras as early as tonight so if you want one you better hurry.
