Update on the blown head gasket.

Posted on July 29, 2006 | Category: Uncategorized

PRAISE GOD that the blown head gasket actually turned out not to be a blown head gasket after all, but rather a problem with a power steering line. I have now learned that it is not good to trust Jiffy Lube Technicians no matter how confident they are of there diagnosis they have and alternative motive of being fast. However, it does concern me greatly that the Jiffy Lube people automatically jump to this conclusion, and stuck by it, even when I ask them if they were certain of it. There misdiagnosis could have caused me to destroy my engine.  See I strongly though about putting a special liquid into my radiator in order to stop the leak, but there the liquid could have lead my car to overheat. While it is true they have no obligation to tell me what was wrong with my car because I did not ask, they did have an obligation to not just guess and be a little more certain when they do decide to make a diagnosis.  It is so crazy that they even put a little tool into the antifreeze and sucked what they claimed was oil out the antifreeze and still misdiagnosed my car as having a blown head gasket. With that level of impenitence I am not sure I even want them doing an oil change on my car again.  They apparently do not know the difference between grime and oil it seems.

Anyhow the power steering system was not cheap to fix it still cost over $400 which fortunately was only about half as much of head gasket job. In addition, the brakes still remain messed up and will probably need to be fixed in the near future. I believe that Midas more than likely did a bad job on them when they replaced them a couple of years back, because the rotors are messed up, but the pads are just wearing down now? Does that make sense that the rotors go before the pads? I am not auto technician, but that does not seem quite right. I have however learned from this not to assume something is certainly the case just because it appears highly probable. Things are not always as they seem. Anyhow don’t worry about anyone having donated money for the head gasket repair, because no one has ever donated a penny via this site, which is fine, I do not really expect it. It would just be nice if it happened.
